Yamawa, the Japanese specialist in threading solutions, has increased the Z-Pro VU range of machine taps by adding new sizes and new types to the series.
Part of the VU series are spiral fluted taps for blind holes (VUSP) and spiral pointed taps for through holes (VUPO). Yamawa says these tools deliver top performance in terms of reliability and quality in any manufacturing context, from mass production to small batch applications.
Building on the success of the VU series, Yamawa has recently broadened the range with new sizes. The VUSP for blind holes now comprises taps up to M24 size for both the M and MF thread types, while the range of VUPO for through holes goes from actual M3-M16 to M2-M24 sizes (from M16 both the M and MF thread types are available).
Both the VUPO and VUSP taps are available in stock additionally with long shanks (JIS Standard).
The new VUSP CH coated spiral fluted tap with axial lubrication hole, suitable for use with water-soluble coolant, has also joined the VU Series. In these taps, the coolant hole diameter is optimised to allow abundant internal lubrication for large heating and welding reduction, resulting in improved wear resistance and the quality of the internal thread. VUSP CH taps discharge chips smoothly, guaranteeing continuous machining and process reliability.
Completing the range is the new VUSP E (1.5P). The chamfer length is 1.5 pitches, making the tool ideal for machining blind holes where there is little room between the bored hole depth and the full thread length. Thanks to the unique flute shape, this type of tap has improved chip ejection and reduced cutting resistance that allow longer life and excellent internal threads quality.
