We're rather optimistic and excited about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, which is due this Summer on Switch and pretty much every major system. Developed by Tribute Games alongside Dotemu, it's based most heavily on the 1987 cartoon / 1989 arcade, bringing the iconic original form of the IP back to life.

Dotemu has now shared a second behind-the-scenes video, and it's an excellent watch (at the top of the page). It focuses on the team's love of the series and the influences that had on the game's design - there's some exciting new footage and detail, too.

We see a cool overview map of a TMNT-style New York that you navigate in the Story mode, which also allows you to retry levels to find all the secrets. There are also all-new snippets of fresh stages, enemies and bosses - the developers are also shown playing with Pro Controllers, as a nice reminder that this is a game that should suit the Switch rather well.

Although we can make out April, the 4 turtles and Splinter on the character select screen, there’s a deliberate dark area, I’m guessing we’ll get to play as Casey Jones too or maybe even Yojimbo the samurai rabbit. Just give us a release date!!

It's a good year for Turtles fans. And I happen to be one of them!

I wonder if these guys didn't really quite expect the level of excitement from the fanbase when they first announced it, but have since doubled down their efforts to go that extra mile?

That's pure fan-fiction on my part, but it definitely seems now like this is a more than just an indie love-letter and has become a premium release that's getting the deluxe treatment from all involved. I have high hopes!

This game is looking awesome, radical, bodacious, and any other 80s Michelangelo superlative I can't remember right now!

Truly we who loved the old Turtles arcade machines and home games long ago have so much to celebrate this year with Shredder's Revenge and the Cowabunga Collection.

The story mode with overworld map looks like a really fun way to stretch out our time with this game.

@Orokosaki Absolutely! Usagi Yojimbo would be an awesome crossover addition to the game. Interesting story: I met UY's creator Stan Sakai once long ago at the SD Comic Con, and actually helped him locate a few old samurai films on VHS. He sent me original Usagi cover art in thanks! Such a kind and talented man and I would love to see his work guest-star in this excellent-looking game.

I can't wait to raise shell and wreck the Foot Clan later this year!

I am commenting here to say that when this game is released, and also cowabunga collection I will be going to the shops opening my wallet taking sweet cash out and exchanging for these games. This will be a very good day indeed! Xxx

@Teksetter How much do you charge per hour to tutor the unworthy toward this deep knowledge of Japanese culture? I keep hearing so much about their films and other aspects, and I just acquired a decent history text, but it is clear that I've missed more than I know. AAAAAAHHHHH THE EXCITEMENT
