ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Triple J Aggregates Ltd. of Conception Bay South is facing a slew of charges for violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in connection to a September 2020 death at a quarry near St. John’s. 

The company is charged with 11 violations including allegedly failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare of workers, alleged failure to ensure that each tool, machine and piece of equipment in the workplace is capable of safely performing the functions for which it is used and allegedly failing to provide and maintain on a conveyor belt guards on the load bearing rollers, return rollers and idler assemblies.

Additionally, the company supervisor is charged with one violation for alleged failure to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all workers under their supervision.

First appearances are scheduled for Aug. 19 at provincial court in St. John’s.
